JUNIORS

The main activity is on Saturday afternoons each week, but in addition to this there is ergo and supervised light weight work. Evening rowing takes place in the spring and summer.

Membership is open to local schools, and the Molesey Schools Rowing Association has been created and registered as the racing name of Molesey Juniors, allowing us to mix and match crews from different schools where this is appropriate. The school members have rowing as part of their curriculum, thus juniors are rowing now on every day of the week.

A large fleet of boats is available for use, thanks to local sponsors and the Government’s Sportsmatch scheme. Coaching is provided by volunteers from within the Club, and we work hard at keeping a fairly low ratio of coaches to junior rowers. Safety and capsize training is a first step in learning how to row.

Currently there are more than 100 juniors rowing at the Club, and enjoying the river and this exciting and beautiful sport.

The oldest juniors start to row and train with the senior squad as soon as this is practical. Before long, they can find themselves in the company of Olympic and Henley winners, and get a real insight into what it takes!

If you have a child or are a child, and would like to get out on the river and make friends and race to win, then mail the club address or the Junior Organizer.
