MBC Captain and Olympic gold medallist Andy Hodge with the squad's oldest member Dave LustyMolesey Head Vet I crew in readiness for its friday morning outingThe Molesey Boat Club on the beautiful stretch of the river Thames at East Molesey has for long been a haven for veteran rowers who have had many successes in Heads and Regattas over the past 20 years or so.  Unlike some clubs, the veteran squads do not poach veterans from other clubs
in order to try and win races at any cost.

The year 2009 will long be remembered by the participation of a Veteran I (average age 75) eight in the Molesey Head in February for which it is now training in earnest.  Half the members of the squad are novice veterans and only two of them have won senior races in the distant past!  The crew preparing for the Molesey Head is:  Dave Lusty (bow), Tony Shine, Ron Franklin, John Sheldon, Ian Butler, Bomi Kavarana, Mike Brandon, Peter Hartman (stroke) and Peter Mitchell (cox).  Dave Lusty and Tony Shine are the oldest members of the crew with a total of 160 years under their belt.
