After some promising results in Munich we are off to Lucerne on Wednesday for the next World Cup.
Unfortunately there was bad news for the coxless as the two Molesey men originally selected for the boat – Tom James and Andy Hodge – are not able to race due to injury.
As you know TJ was unable to race in Munich (you may have seen him displaying his media skills on the BBC…). Annoyingly for TJ his injury is taking a bit longer than thought to sort itself out. Tom Lucy is staying in the four following his impressive display in Munich.
Hodge has picked up a bit of a sore back which has ruled him out of Lucerne as well. I spoke to Hodgey yesterday and he was confident he would be back in a boat soon and in the meantime he has been beasting himself on the bike! Colin Smith has been moved from the eight into the four to take Hodge’s seat.
In the eight Acer is going to be calling the shots again and I have stayed in the four seat. There have been a couple of changes – Al Heathcote is back from injury and replaces Smith at stroke. Alex Partridge and Robin Bourne-Taylor (bow and 7 seat respectively in Munich) have swapped seats. The eight has been going well in training and we can’t wait to get out there and race!
The quad, featuring Molesey’s Simon Fieldhouse, showed some good speed in Munich and in a re-jig of the order Monkey has been moved to the stroke seat for Lucerne. Monkey is pleased with how its been going in training and they are looking forward to their last race before the Olympic Qualification Regatta in Poznan.
After the disappointment of losing his partner in Munich when Tom Lucy was drafted into the four, Olly Moore will be racing in the pair at Lucerne with Tom Parker.
See you soon! Tom
